Research Symposium 2027

Beyond Antibiotics Research Symposium 2027

Join us for the second Beyond Antibiotics Research Symposium organised with support from INEOS Oxford Institute. The event is taking place on 26-27 April 2027 at St Hugh's College in Oxford, UK.

Our event programme will bring together leading experts in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) from academia, industry and clinical practice, as well as early and mid-career researchers. Expert presentations will provide an overview of the history of antibiotics as well as the most recent research methodologies and findings adressing AMR. Expertise, insights and guidance for translating research into clinical practice will also be shared.

Findings from the 6-year Beyond Antibiotics Programme Grant funded by the UKRI-EPSRC will be presented in posters and 3-minute flash-talk presentations. The event will culminate in a discussion about the next steps for researchers, clinicians, industry, and patients towards addressing AMR.

Expect to learn about the microbiome and its role in fighting harmful bacteria, diagnostics, prevention, as well as new research methods and approaches for combatting harmful microbes. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) have been a particular focus of the Beyond Antibiotics programme grant. Hence, examples and research related to diagnostics and treatment of UTIs and recurrent UTIs, will be a focal area of the event.

An agenda will be available on this site in due course.
